Maypole dancing is a form of folk dance from Germany, England and Sweden. When creating this design, the image of dancers moving around the pole with a colored ribbon came so vividly to mind. Using cables and fair-isle knitting, the pattern shows two strips of color that wind themselves around the body of the cowl. Knit with 280 yds worsted-weight yarn at a gauge of 20 sts and 24 rows per 4″ using U.S. sizes 7/4.5mm and 8/5mm needles. Finished size is 24″ circumference x 10″ deep.
